FAIRFIELD, Utah, July 19, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah County Sheriff’s officials have released more details after a man was found deceased Saturday night, laying face down in the middle of a road in Fairfield.

The deceased man has been identified as Benjamin David Jansen, 50, of Lehi, said a news release from UCSO Sunday.

A father and son on a side-by-side found the man, who was dressed in full motorcycle gear, near a landfill along Allen’s Ranch Road at about 8 p.m. They called authorities, said the news release. The call was dispatched as a medical emergency and, upon arrival, deputies determined that the man was deceased.

About a half mile to the south, deputies found a motorcycle that was leaning to the side, but did not appear to have recent damage from a crash.

The victim had no obvious injuries investigators could see at the scene, the news release said.

“Jansen’s wife reported to Lehi police that her husband had left that morning to ride his motorcycle in the Lake Mountain/Cedar Valley area,” the news release said.  “He had planned on returning home by noon. When he did not arrive, and she could not reach him, she contacted Lehi police.”

Jansen’s body was taken to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office in Taylorsville where an exam will be conducted in an effort to determine what caused his death.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
