MILLCREEK, Utah, Dec. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police said they have identified a man found naked just off a parking lot in Big Cottonwood Regional Park on Wednesday morning.

Unified Police Department tweeted Thursday evening: “The male from Big Cottonwood Park has been identified. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Thank you for your help.”

Unified Police Department Sgt. Melody Gray told Gephardt Daily on Wednesday that a man was walking his dog at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the park at 4720 S. 1590 East, when his pet alerted him to something in a thicket of trees.

The dog walker then found a man who was naked and obviously deceased.

Gray said there were no obvious signs of foul play, but the death is being treated as suspicious at this time.

A violent crime unit is investigating, Gray said.

Later on Wednesday, the UPD released a photo of a ring the man was wearing, and, in a highly unusual step, also released a photo of the deceased man’s face, in the hopes that someone would recognize him.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
