DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah, July 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified two people killed in a head-on collision on State Route 87 in Duchesne County.
Dead are Devin Kirk, of Heber City, 18 and a recent graduate of Wasatch High School, and Shauna Allen, 46, of Wales, Utah.
The accident happened at 4:36 p.m. Sunday at mile marker 33, near the town of Ioka, according to information from the Utah Highway Patrol.
A 1995 Chrysler, driven by Kirk and carrying two passengers, was traveling east on SR-87. A 2008 Hyundai was traveling the same road westbound with driver Allen and four passengers.
Kirk’s Chrysler suddenly crossed the center line, entering the lane of Allen’s Hyundai, and colliding with it. The crash caused traumatic injuries that killed both drivers.
One of Allen’s passengers, a 12-year-old girl, was flown to an area hospital with serious injuries. Other passengers were either unhurt or suffered minor Injuries.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
Devin was an angel on Earth. He loved and cared about everyone. Our town has lost a beautiful soul, a great worker and incredible son, brother, and friend. My heart breaks for his family. Fly high buddy, and give your mom a hug for us all.
You know, that was my family that was in that Chrysler, those 2 “passengers” were very lucky to make it out the way they did. Even with them stapling and stitching my brothers head up as well as his leg. I also knew family of the people in that other car. It’s traumatic that this happened. Know that all of them are good people, and it’s sad that an accident can cause this much damage to people’s lives.. God bless the family in that other car.
I just wish that those 2 fatal deaths never happened to such good people.
I knew the Mother of Eight children who died. I was her Young Women’s President! Loved her family! My Heart is Broken for such a tragedy for all the families this will effect forever!
