Utah County Sheriff’s Office provides update on road and canyon openings

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, June 16, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah County Sheriff’s Office officials have provided an update for residents and visitors regarding road and canyon openings.

The updates are as follows:

-Alpine Loop Road (SR-92) is open all the way between American Fork Canyon and Provo Canyon.

-All day use areas in American Fork Canyon are open but they do not have water available.

-Mineral Basin Road in American Fork Canyon is open.

-Silver Lake Flat Road in American Fork Canyon is open.

-Little Mill and Granite Flat campgrounds in American Fork Canyon are open but do not have water available.

-Timpooneke Road in American Fork Canyon is still closed due to lingering snow drifts on the road.

-Nebo Loop Road in Payson Canyon is open from the north to the Blackhawk Campground turnoff and from the south in Nephi Canyon to Devil’s Kitchen. The entire road is not expected to be open for two to four more weeks due to snow and tree hazards. Clearance is weather dependent.

-Blackhawk Campground in Payson Canyon will be closed for the entire season.

-Santaquin Canyon Road is still closed due to a large avalanche and debris still blocking the road. This avalanche is still 12-15 feet deep where it crosses the road.

-Payson Lakes Campground is not open yet as it does not have water available.
