Utah COVID-19 update: 1 more death, 279 new cases in past day

UTAH, May 2, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported one more COVID-19 death and 279 new documented cases in the past 24 hours.

That brings known cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 398,012. Documented deaths now stand at 2,204.

The person who died was a Utah County man, between 45 and 64, hospitalized at the time of his death.

Vaccines administered number 2,174,205, which is 8,364 more than yesterday.

UDoH reports 2,567,778 people tested, an increase of 4,129 people tested since yesterday. Tests given total 4,662,527, an increase of 7,204 tests since yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 371 per day.

The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 6.7%.

The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.6%.

There are 137 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 16,220.
