SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 8, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Nitro Circus has named Salt Lake City as its host for the first ever Nitro World Games coming in 2016.
Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Circus created the World Games to bring outstanding athletes from across the globe to perform stunts that have never been seen before in the history of extreme sports.
The games will have seven categories for the competition, including freestyle motorcross (FMX) biggest trick, BMX, FMX and skateboard best tricks, BMX triple jump, scooters and inline roller best tricks. Some of the world’s best riders are expected to be there.
“When the X-games came out every year we saw tricks that had never been seen, had never been thought of and that is what I want to see at the World Championships,” Pastrana stated during the launch video. “It’s time to move up, when I see a World Championship event, I want to see the best trick that has ever been done happen on that night. I want to see a world’s first.”
The three-hour event will be held at the Rice-Eccles Stadium on July 16, 2016 and will be broadcast live by NBC Sports. Tickets for the event went on sale Tuesday Dec. 8 through Smithtix.
