Washington County deputy delivers baby: ‘You got a girl!’

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Dec. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was on hand to welcome a new person into the world Tuesday evening, and he got there just in time.

Dispatchers received a call at 5:43 p.m., telling them a woman was about to give birth.

The caller said they had pulled off of State Route 59 near Sheeps Bridge Road and would wait there for emergency personnel. a WCSO news release says..

The deputy arrived less than a minute ahead of fire and EMS crews.

“The deputy had just enough time to put on protective equipment before he was able to assist with the delivery of a baby girl,” the news release says.  “Members of the Hurricane Valley Fire Department were there only seconds after to take over patient care for the mother and child.”

Both parents gave the OK for the sheriff’s office to share the dash cam video clip of the event.

The news release concludes with:

“The Bishop-Brown family said they were thankful for all the first responders who helped welcome the newest member to their family.”
