WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 30, 2016 (Gephardt daily) — Firefighters battled a Memorial Day blaze that appears to have started in the back yard of a home Monday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Mark Ownsby said the fire started just before 3 p.m. at the home located at 4549 S Carnegie Tech St. (4635 West).
Ownsby said the damages are quite extensive, and although he was unsure how many people resided in the home, they will all be displaced for a while.
Ownsby said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but from what they are being told, it appears it may have been caused by an unattended barbecue grill.
The damage is estimated to be in excess of $125,000.
