WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Oct. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing in West Valley City.
The deceased is 19-year-old Treyvon Stephens.
“Treyvon Stephens was stabbed in parking lot & ran into friend’s apartment,” a Friday morning tweet from the WVCPD says.
“Two men fled scene. Suspects are known to Treyvon. He’d been spending time with them earlier in day. No motive identified. Anyone who saw Treyvon & who he was with, please call 801-840-4000.”
“We have very limited information,” an earlier tweet said. “No arrests at this time. Suspect vehicle described as white passenger car, possibly newer model Toyota Camry.”
WVCPD Lt. M.T. Johnson spoke with reporters at about 10 a.m., and said police are seeking information from “… anybody who knows who he (Stephens) regularly hangs out with who might be using that car.” Johnson described the car being sought as a model from “2012ish.”
Johnson also said that Stephens was stabbed outside of the apartment building, in the area of 4000 S. Redwood Road, where he apparently has friends.
“He hangs out with there, and stays there quite a bit,” Johnson said.
Police have interviewed numerous neighbors seeking information.
The stabbing happened at approximately 8:15 p.m. Thursday, and officials responded within about six minutes. Stephens was found dead at the scene.
Police first tweeted at 9:20 p.m. Thursday.
“An adult male is deceased. Suspect(s) outstanding,” that tweet said. “Investigation and search for suspect(s) underway.”
