MAGNA, Utah, April 10, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Wind, smoke, and early reports of trapped occupants added to the urgency surrounding a residential blaze in Magna.
At approximately 11 a.m. this morning, Unified Fire Authority along with West Valley City Fire Department units, were dispatched to a house fire in Magna, UFA said Friday evening.
Following multiple 911 calls, dispatch received conflicting address information due to wind conditions pushing smoke into several surrounding neighborhoods, the agency said, contributing to location confusion.
When crews located the home they encountered heavy smoke and active flames showing from the rear. “Initial reports indicated the possibility of trapped occupants, prompting Battalion 13 to immediately assign Company 111 to conduct an unprotected interior search — without a hose line. Fortunately, no occupants or pets were located inside the residence.”
Firefighters quickly transitioned to an aggressive offensive fire attack, UFA said. The seat of the fire was located in the attic space, and firefighters utilized aerial and roof operations to gain access and effectively knock down the fire.

After approximately 25 minutes of fire suppression, crews were able to bring the fire under control. “Thanks to their rapid and coordinated efforts, the first floor and the majority of the second floor were successfully saved. However, the attic sustained extensive damage.
“We would like to recognize the quick and coordinated response of all responding crews, including our partners at West Valley City Fire, whose actions were critical in gaining access, locating the fire, and preventing further loss.”
UFA said the incident remains under investigation.
