TEXAS, March 29, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Twelve people aboard a minibus transporting churchgoers back from a retreat died Wednesday in a two-vehicle head-on crash in the Texas Hill Country, officials said.

Three people were injured, including the driver of a pickup that collided with the bus, said Sgt. Conrad Hein, Texas Department of Public Safety.

The bus was traveling from Alto Frio Baptist Encampment in Leakey when the accident occurred near Garner State Park, about seven miles away on a two-lane section of Highway 83, CNN is reporting.

The bus was transporting congregants of the First Baptist Church in New Braunfels, the church said on its Facebook page.

The post begins: “At approximately 2 p.m. this afternoon, a group of our senior adults were returning home from a 3-day retreat at Alto Frio Baptist Encampment when their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision.”

The post goes on to say it has not received any official details from the local authorities.

“We are ministering to family members to help them deal with this tragedy. Counselors will be on hand at the church tomorrow. If you’re a Christian, you can pray for those who lost their loved ones and for the church family.”

Video from above the crash showed a large white pickup that collided with the left side of the bus.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
