2 shot at Indiana middle school; suspect arrested

May 25 (UPI) — Two people were shot Friday at an Indiana middle school and the suspected shooter is in custody, police said.

Authorities said an adult and a student were hospitalized after the shooting at Noblesville West Middle School, Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine said in a tweet.

The extent of the victims’ injuries was not immediately clear.

The suspect is a male student at the school, officials said.

“This is surreal,” student Chad Lancaster told The Indianapolis Star. “This happens in high school, not here.”

Noblesville is about 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
