BRUSSELS, April 2 (UPI) — Belgian authorities arrested a man linked to a foiled terrorist attack in France, according to federal prosecutors.

The 33-year-old Belgian national was only identified by his initials, Y.A., and was charged with “participating in the activities of a terrorist group.” His detention was extended after appearing before a judge on Friday.

Y.A. is the third person charged as an accomplice of Frenchman Reda Kirket.

Prosecutors accused Kirket, 34, of plotting an terrorist attack after he was arrested on March 24. Police found firearms and explosives inside his apartment in an “unprecedented scale.”

Officials said the weapons found in Kirket’s apartment indicated an “imminent” attack but could not determine an exact target.

Kirket said the weapons were left in his apartment by an acquaintance and denied any link to terrorism.

Algerian citizens Abderahmane Ameroud, 38, and Rabah M., 34, were also arrested in Belgium on March 25 and charged as Kirket’s accomplices.
