David Sweat, the surviving escapee from an upstate New York maximum security prison break, has been shot and captured by state police.

According to law enforcement sources, Sweat, age 35, was gunned down after being spotted by police on a rural road Sunday morning outside the town of Constable, New York.

Sweat was reportedly shot while running across a field after disobeying police commands to stop. No word on his condition.

Earlier this week Sweat’s companion, fellow escapee Richard Matt, was shot to death while fleeing police.
