MOGADISHU, Somalia, Oct. 1 (UPI) — A car bomb detonated in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Saturday afternoon, killing an unknown number of people.

Reports of the death toll ranged from two to five after a white car loaded with explosives went off outside Blue Sky restaurant on a busy thoroughfare. Several others were also injured.

The bomb went off near a prison operated by the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency, though it was not clear if the prison itself was the target or if the bombers were targeting civilians. The restaurant is frequented by both residents and security officials from the prison, according to Voice of America.

Captured Islamist militants are frequently housed at the facility in underground cells, according to Al Jazeera.

No group has come forward to claim responsibility for the bombing, though the terrorist group al-Shabab, an affiliate of al Qaida, has carried out suicide bombings in the area in the past.
