BERKELEY, Calif., Sept. 21 (UPI) — Domino’s Pizza has offered a customer free pies for a year after he returned $1,300 cash that was mistakenly delivered to his house along with his food.

Mike Vegas of Berkeley ordered pizza and wings from a Domino’s eatery Friday and he ate just one slice of pizza before putting the rest of his food in the fridge.

Vegas said his phone started ringing a few hours later.

“My phone started blowing up and I wasn’t looking at the random messages. I was at work so I wasn’t answering,” Vegas told KGO-TV.

Vegas said the caller turned out to be his Domino’s delivery driver, who had hidden money for a deposit in a wings box and delivered the wrong package to Vegas’ home.

“About 5 a.m., I got home from work and went to my refrigerator and pulled out what I thought was wings. It turned out to be 1,300 bucks,” Vegas said.

“I wrote a Facebook post and of course there’s a long list of people arguing you should keep it, you shouldn’t keep it,you should keep it, you shouldn’t keep it” he said. “I wanted to keep it, believe me. But I can’t, I can’t do that.”

Vegas branded the incident a “karma test” in his Facebook post.

Domino’s Pizza General Manager Zia Mumtaz thanked Vegas and offered him a reward.

“Thank you so much for this, honest people are hard to find these days,” Mumtaz said. “Just to thank you, we’re going to offer you free pizza for a whole year.”

Vegas said he plans to accept the offer.

“I’m going to have to start working out more, obviously,” he joked.
