WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 (UPI) — A suspended member of the Secret Service was shot and killed in Washington D.C. and police are searching for three men in connection to the shooting.

Arthur Baldwin, 30, was shot multiple times on Tuesday. He was unarmed, found unconscious and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police on Wednesday said they believe Baldwin was the victim of an attempted robbery. Authorities do not believe his death is related to his position as a Secret Service agent.

Baldwin was charged with first-degree attempted burglary and destruction of property when he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home during a fight earlier this year, which led to his suspension.

Police do not believe that his death is connected to the charges he faced. He had appeared in court Tuesday morning for a status hearing.
