GOLCONDA , Ill., Dec. 7 (UPI) — Police in Illinois were searching Monday for two men who escaped a southern Illinois prison one day prior.
Kevin Rivera, 20, of Chicago, and Jerrette D. Reed, 25, were noticed missing late Sunday afternoon from the Dixon Hills Impact Incarceration Program, part of the minimum security Vienna Correctional Center in Golconda, Ill., on the state’s southern border.
Each was last seen wearing an orange prison T-shirt and blue pants with a yellow side stripe. Rivera began a five-year sentence for cocaine manufacture and delivery in August; Reed was serving a three-year sentence on methamphetamine charges.
Officials noted both men were sentenced for non-violent crimes but advised anyone encountering them to use caution and to contact authorities.
