Detroit Police Discover Two Children Dead in Freezer

DetroitDETROIT, March 25 (UPI) — Detroit police are questioning the mother of two children — an 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl — found dead in a home freezer.

The mother, Mitchelle Blair, 35, has not been charged and was being questioned as a person of interest.

Investigators said the bodies had been in the freezer for at least several months, but have not officially revealed why and how the children got there. Blair’s other two children, ages 11 and 17, were placed into protective custody and were being questioned by police.

The bodies were discovered Tuesday morning by a court-ordered crew that was to evict her from her apartment for not paying rent. The bailiffs discovered the girl first and called 911. The boy’s body was discovered later. Neighbors said Blair homeschooled her children.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
