LeBron Goes Dark on Social Media, Former Team
CLEVELAND, April 21 (UPI) — When Miami Heat president Pat Riley responded brashly to questions about the NBA draft Monday, many wondered if he was speaking about LeBron James when he said “No more smiling faces with hidden agendas, so we’ll be going in clean.”
The comment possibly relates to James’ urging of the Heat to draft former UCONN player Shabazz Napier, before bolting to Cleveland.
On Tuesday, before his Cleveland Cavaliers host the Boston Celtics at 7 p.m. in game 2, James responded to Riley’s jab.
“Whatever he said, that’s not my concern right now,” James told Bleacher Report’s Ethan J. Skolnick.
“My concern is Game 2, but I have no notion of what transpired yesterday,” James added.
James told Skolnick that he hadn’t heard what Riley said at the press conference. The King went on to speak about his typically unplugged playoff mode.
“I don’t have no phones, no social media, I don’t have anything,” James told Cleveland.com. “Because I don’t care about nonsense. There’s too much nonsense out there. Not during this time, this is when I lock in right now and I don’t need nothing creeping into my mind that don’t need to be there.”
Riley would go on to say that his comment about smiling faces could have been about anybody, according to Ira Winderman. He also said he was “at peace” with the King’s departure.
