FARR WEST, Utah, June 27, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A fast-moving grass fire at about noon Friday left a Farr West residence a total loss and injured three firefighters.

The Weber Fire District, assisted by Ogden City Fire, North View Fire, Riverdale Fire, Hill Air Force Base Fire, and the Weber County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of 1400 N. 2000 West.

“The incident was quickly upgraded to a structure fire after the fast-moving grass fire spread to a nearby out building,” the Weber Fire District news release says.

Fueled by strong winds, the fire then extended about 50 feet to a residential home, where it rapidly spread through the attic.

“Due to deteriorated structural integrity and concerns that the home would collapse, firefighters were unable to make a interior attack, and fought the fire from the outside, in a defensive strategy, “battling heavy fire conditions, smoke and strong winds from the exterior.”

Heavy equipment was used to open up the structure to access hidden hot spots.

Three firefighters were treated at the scene for heat-related injuries, and were released.
