WASHINGTON, Dec. 12 (UPI) — The website for Trump Towers briefly went down Friday after the hacktivism collective Anonymous denounced Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump for his anti-Muslim comments.
The site for Trump’s glitzy 68-story building was down for about an hour after a “denial-of-service” attack appeared to overload the website with traffic.
Earlier this week, Trump suggested banning Muslims from entering the United States. Anonymous posted a video before the attack, warning Trump his policies were dangerous. The group had previously focused on taking on the Islamic State.
“This policy is going to have a huge impact,” a man in a Guy Fawkes mask said. “This is what ISIS wants. The more Muslims feel sad, the more ISIS feels they can recruit them…You have been warned, Mr. Donald Trump.”
