KELLER, Texas, Dec. 15 (UPI) — A Texas father said he was shocked to find his sixth-grade son’s homework assignment resembled “a diagram of how to become a drug dealer.”
“I walked by and noticed that in big bold letters across the front of his assignment it said, ‘COCAINE,'” Pick told KTVT-TV.The assignment was titled, “The Cocaine Trade: From Field to Street.”
Pick said the assignment lists the steps of the cocaine trade from the Cartel to street dealers. “The amount that they purchase it for is $50,000, but they can easily break it down and sell it for $87,000 on the street level,” Pick quoted the assignment as stating.

“I felt like they were giving my kid a diagram of how to become a drug dealer,” Pick said. “I was shocked by it. It startled me. It took me aback for a second… I grabbed the paper immediately.”

Pick said he took the assignment away from his son before the boy completed it.

The Keller Independent School District said Pick’s complaint is under investigation.

“Keller ISD takes the issue of drug abuse very seriously, and as such, allocates multiple resources to combat abuse through drug education and intervention. The study sheet in question will be reviewed before being considered for future use.

The district will continue its concerted efforts to review, remind, and revise drug educational material on a regular basis,” the district said.
