KANE COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was killed and his wife was injured when the Jeep he was driving crashed on State Route 14 on Thursday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release that Edwin Hackley, 80, of Enoch, was driving a white Jeep Wrangler eastbound on SR-14 near milepost 23 at about 10 a.m.

Hackley lost control on the snowy, slick road. The Jeep spun off the road to the left and hit a rock.

“The white Jeep then rolled about 40 feet down a steep embankment,” the news release says. “The driver was ejected and died on scene.”

The female passenger, Karen Hackley, 76, was taken by ambulance to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City, the release states.

A passing snowplow driver called in the accident about an hour and a half after the crash occurred.
