CLINTON, Utah, June 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 60-year-old man is in custody after a three-hour SWAT standoff in Davis County in the early hours of Monday morning, police said.
Clinton City Police officials said the incident began just before 2:40 a.m. when a man called 911 to say he wanted police to come to his house because he wanted to have a shootout with them.
The North Davis Metro SWAT team responded to the home, near 2050 N. 1300 West.
The man, later identified as Wayne Lindley, was armed with a handgun and was possibly highly intoxicated, officials said.
Lindley’s mother, who was inside the home with him, was able to safely exit.
Neighbors were asked to shelter in place until the situation was resolved.
Lindley was taken into custody peacefully approximately three hours after the incident began.
No one was injured in the course of the incident.
