SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Dec. 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 26-year-old woman found dead outside her Jeep near a park in South Jordan Tuesday morning had been reported missing from Riverton Monday night.
South Jordan Police spokesman Sgt. Sam Winkler told Gephardt Daily the deceased has been identified as Kelsey Stone, whose family had called the Unified Police Department Monday at 11:30 p.m. after she did not show up at a Christmas event she said she would attend.
Winkler said the woman was found deceased near the vehicle in the area of 6000 W. Lake Ave. just after 8 a.m. No information about the cause of death has been released, but Winkler said Tuesday afternoon the death is still being considered suspicious.
He said a city worker was doing some inspection work in the area, and found the woman near the vehicle.
UPD Investigation Division issued a BOLO (Be on the Lookout For) that said Stone was last seen by her family Monday “wearing a maroon jacket and black leggings.” The BOLO goes on: “Kelsey is very familiar with the outdoors and may be in one of the surrounding canyons. Kelsey drives a 2004 black Jeep Liberty.”
Winkler said the missing person’s case was entered into the database at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after Stone’s family reported her missing an hour before.
Winkler said investigators are scanning and diagramming the scene.
Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
