SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a woman who died early Sunday morning while driving south on Interstate 15 when her car glanced off a traffic barrier and slammed into a wall near 900 South.

The deceased is Christine Zaragoza, 46, from Midvale, the Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

UHP Sgt. Jalaine Hawkes told Gephardt Daily the woman was driving onto the I-15 collector about 5:46 a.m. in a white Saturn when the accident happened. The vehicle went right, struck the metal guardrail and traveled left striking the concrete wall and rolled on the roof.

Zaragoza was partially ejected in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

Hawkes said evidence suggests excessive speed may have been a factor in the deadly crash, but an exact cause had yet to be determined.

There were no signs of alcohol or drugs in the vehicle, officials said.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this story as information becomes available.
