WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man wanted on multiple felony warrants was in custody Monday night at about 11 p.m., after police spotted him and a K-9 flushed him out of his hiding place.

West Valley City Police Lt. Robert Hamilton said officers saw Jeremy Rugio, 39, park and go into the Country Inn at 34th Street and South Decker Lake Drive. They recognized Rugio because “he has a lot of history with the police,” Hamilton said, and he was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Officers had no luck finding Rugio in the hotel, but as they were leaving they saw him fleeing on foot.

A containment area was immediately set up and the dog quickly located Rugio hiding behind a dumpster.

Hamilton said Rugio was booked into jail on warrants, including possession of a firearm by a restricted person, plus new charges of fleeing a police officer and possession of paraphernalia.
