Get Plugged In With Google Chromecast

Between Netflix, Hulu, and DVRs, the traditional concept of how to watch television is becoming a thing of the past.

Google Chromecast is the latest  in viewing technology. A small thumb-sized media streaming device that plugs into your HDMI port on your  TV, Google Chromecast can be controlled using an Android phone, tablet, iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows laptop, or Chromebook to cast your favorite entertainment and apps right onto your television.

Just like the AppleTV, Roku Streaming Stick and Amazon Firestick Chromecast works with major Netflix, HBO GO, Youtube, Hulu Plus and other media providers. But unlike the AppleTV, everything you can’t already find on Google Chromecast can be mirrored to the big screen through your laptop or even your phone. You can use the apps you already know and are familiar with on your own device to browse, play, pause, rewind, and control the volume and even make playlists.

Kayla Thomas, a 27-year-old Midvale resident, swears by the device. “I use it all the time,” she said.  A kitchen designer for  BMC Design, uses the Chromecast to project designs on to larger screens for client walk throughs and to pull-up presentations. She controls it using her phone or iPad.  She also finds it extremely useful to her as a single parent. “It keeps my kid entertained” Thomas said, “especially on the road in hotels. We can plug it and use it.”

Friends and family members can also cast to your TV using their own phone or tablet without any additional set-up.” Best $35 dollars I’ve spent on technology in a long time,” said Ryan Poole, a 40-year-old corporate media producer. “We use it mostly to binge-watch favorite TV shows.”
