Woman Lying Across FrontRunner Tracks Killed
CLEARFIELD, UTAH., APRIL 22, 2015 (GEPHARDT DAILY) — A woman in her pajamas was hit and killed by FrontRunner this morning in Clearfield in what police are calling a suicide.According to Clearfield Police Chief Mike Stenquist, they have cleared the scene and have been able to identify the victim.
The woman, a 37 year old Clearfield resident, was lying down in the middle of the tracks when the train approached. “The conductor said he thought it was debris but it was still dark and couldn’t tell until she sat straight up in the path of the train,” said Stenquist
The train was said to be going about 35 mph. at the time of the incident.
According to UTA spokesperson Remi Barron, passengers were transported by UTA bus around the scene and then boarded back onto the FrontRunner.
The area was closed off from about 5:30 a.m. and re-opened around 8:30 after police had finished their investigation.
The police are not releasing the name of the victim pending notification of all family members.
