New Witness Comes Forward in Natalee Holloway Case
ORANJESTAND , Aruba, May 12 (UPI) — A new witness in the Natalee Holloway disappearance has come forward, a decade after the 18-year-old disappeared on her senior class trip in Aruba.
Jurrien de Jong, 59, claims he saw Joran van der Sloot, the key suspect in the case, carrying Holloway on the last night she was seen alive.
“I saw that Joran was chasing Natalee into a small building under construction. In about five minutes he came out with Natalee in his arms, and slammed the body of Natalee on the floor, and then he made an opening in a crawl space…I knew she was dead,” de Jong told Inside Edition.
He said he would have come forward sooner if he had not been involved in illegal activities when he allegedly witnessed the crime.
Dave Holloway, the Alabama teen’s father, returned to the island to work alongside a private investigator and a cadaver dog in an attempt to get some answers in the death of his daughter.
Van der Sloot, who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for the murder of Stephany Flores Ramírez, continues to deny his alleged involvement in the case.
