KATHMANDU, Nepal, Nov. 3 (UPI) — At least 30 people, including one child, died and dozens of people were injured when an overcrowded bus veered off a mountain road and cliff in Nepal.
There were some 70 people aboard a bus from Kathmandu to Chilime, some traveling on the roof of the vehicle. The bus was traveling on a gravel road and apparently tipped over and slid about 650 feet down a hill.
Officials said there were at least 10 people in critical condition. More fatalities were expected.
A severe fuel shortage in Nepal has left few vehicles in service, forcing people to ride in overcrowded vehicles.
