WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 (UPI) — The North American Aerospace Defense Command is celebrating 60 years of tracking Santa’s flight around the world on Christmas Eve.
The NORAD Tracks Santa website launched on Tuesday with new features that allow visitors to interact with Santa’s North Pole Village. The site includes games, a countdown to Santa’s Yuletide journey and highlights from 60 years of the holiday program, which began under the U.S.-Canadian organization’s predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command, or CONAD.
The Santa Tracker will go live on the website at 12:01 a.m. Dec 24, and NORAD’s “Santa Cams” will stream videos of Santa’s visits to various locations, with live phone operators available later for callers to inquire about Santa’s whereabouts. Official NORAD Santa tracking apps are also available in the Windows, Apple, andGoogle Play stores.
The website is available in eight languages. On Dec. 24, OnStar subscribers will be able to locate Santa from their vehicles using the OnStar button, and Windows Phone users will be able to ask Cortana for Santa’s location.
