Thanksgiving Point Presents 12th Annual Tulip Festival

LEHI, Utah, April 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Thanksgiving Point in Lehi is presenting its 12th annual Tulip Festival, featuring 250,000 blooms, through May 7.

A news release from the farm, garden and museum complex said the festival features more than one hundred unique varieties spread across the 55-acre Ashton Gardens.

“The Tulip Festival is one of the most popular events in Utah with more than 100,000 guests visiting last year,” the statement said. “The tulip display is redesigned with tulips imported directly from Holland to create a new display each year.

“At the Tulip Festival’s conclusion the actual tulip bulbs from the event go on sale for $3 per dozen to create mini Tulip Festivals in yards all across Utah.”

In addition to the flowers themselves, the Tulip Festival includes the following activities:

Garden Tours – Daily, Noon
Discover the Ashton Gardens on a walking tour, led by a master gardener through the gardens.

Festival Market in the Waterfall Amphitheater – Fridays and Saturdays, all day
Featuring vendors and food trucks from all over the state.

Children’s Activities in the Tulip Tot Playland – Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Mondays 4-8 p.m.
Crafts, activities, games, bounce houses and more with the whole family.

Performers in Waterfall Amphitheater – Saturdays, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Half Marathon, 5K and Kids 1-Mile Run – April 30
Guests are invited to lace up their running shoes for a chance to run through the tulips at the annual Tulip Festival Half Marathon. A 5K, and Kids 1-Mile Run are also available, running through Thanksgiving Point property.

Swing Dance – April 30, 6-8 p.m.
Back by popular demand, the Utah Swing Orchestra returns. Enjoy classic swing music while dancing next to the beautiful 65-foot-tall waterfalls illuminated by bistro lighting.

Salute to Mothers featuring Jenny Oaks Baker and the American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic with special guest Lexi Walker– May 7, 7:30 p.m.
Mother’s Day weekend guests will enjoy selections from Jenny Oaks Baker’s newly released album along with a program of light classical music that includes a journey through the Grand Canyon Suite, the Moldau and an 1812 cannon salute.

Tulip Festival Photo Contest – Through May 7

Professional and amateur photographers are invited to submit their favorite shots from the 2016 Tulip Festival for a chance to win prizes and distinction. The grand prize is a SLR camera kit courtesy of Allen’s Camera. Allen’s Cameras will be on location each Friday and Saturday with cameras for the public to use. There will also be a weekly photo prize of a Thanksgiving Point Family membership for followers of the Thanksgiving Point Instagram account. Guests are encouraged to use the “#tuliparty” hashtag to qualify.

The Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and children aged 3-12. Military personnel get a 25 percent discount with valid ID as well. Entrance is free to Thanksgiving Point Members and children younger than 2 years. The Ashton Gardens is located at 3900 N. Garden Dr. in Lehi, Utah.

A limited number of golf carts and Segways are also available to rent.
