TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, Jan. 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A convenience store clerk was shot early Monday morning and is in critical but stable condition, undergoing surgery at a local hospital.

Unified Police Lt. Ken Hansen said the shooting occurred at about 4:10 a.m. at the ExxonMobil convenience store near 2200 West and 4700 South.

Hansen said the 21-year-old clerk was the only person in the store when two men with guns came in and demanded cash. The clerk was cooperative with their demands, and the two suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

As the two men were leaving, Hansen said, one of them shot the clerk multiple times.

Hansen said police are processing surveillance video to get as much information as possible about this robbery.

The suspects are described as two Hispanic or possibly Caucasian men in their early to mid-20s. Both appear to be slender.

Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
