MILLCREEK CANYON, Salt Lake County, Utah, Oct. 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was called Sunday to help an injured dog named Floyd and his human down from the Grandeur Peak trail.

Salt Lake County SAR was called at about 6:30 p.m. to assist an injured 190-pound, 3-year-old, male Mastiff that was about two miles up the trail.

“Several hikers had called Unified Police to report that the dog and his owner were on the trail and not able to move. Salt Lake County Search and Rescue members went into action and headed up the trail to make sure Floyd could get off the mountain with his human before it got too cold,” the SAR Facebook post says.

The massive Mastiff was secured in a litter and was carried down the mountain.

The dog, his owner, and all the SAR team members got off the mountain at about 10:30 p.m.

“Floyd was a good boy and was happy to be assisted…Hopefully, Floyd will be up and hiking again soon!” the post says.
