UTAH, Oct. 4, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Monday reported eight more deaths and 3,300 new cases of coronavirus in the state since the last report, which was Friday.
Positive confirmed cases here now stand at a cumulative 513,509. Four cases were added to Monday’s total from prior to Oct. 1.
Of Monday’s 3,300 new cases since Friday, 695 were in school children: 374 cases in children ages 5 through 10, 142 cases in children ages 11 through 13, and 179 cases in children ages 14 through 18.
Known COVID-19 deaths number 2,951. The eight who died were:
- A Davis County man between 45 and 64, hospitalized at time of death
- A Salt Lake County woman between 65 and 84, hospitalizations status unknown
- A Salt Lake County man between 65 and 84, hospitalized
- A Salt Lake County man, older than 85, a long-term care facility resident
- A Utah County man between 45 and 64, hospitalized
- A Utah County man between 65 and 84, hospitalized
- A Washington County man between 25 and 44, hospitalized
- A Weber County woman between 45 and 65, hospitalized
Vaccines
UDoH reports 3,507,331 total vaccines administered, which is 28,706 more than Friday.
Vaccinated vs Unvaccinated Risk Ratio:
In the last 28 days, people who are unvaccinated are at 6.7 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 7.1 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 6.4 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
Since February 1, 2021, people who are unvaccinated are at 4.1 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 4.8 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 4.1 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
Lab tests have been administered to 3,485,549 people in Utah, and increase of 21,233 people tested since Friday.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 1,376 per day.
The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 15.25%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 10.3%.
There are 549 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 22,374.
