SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Animal Services is warning residents in Salt Lake City’s Avenues and surrounding areas to keep their pets indoors or on a leash due to recent coyote sightings.

“Salt Lake County Animal Services has received multiple reports of pets found deceased, suspected to be victims of wildlife attacks,” shelter officials said in a social media post Saturday.

“Coyotes, in particular, are known to attack and kill cats and small dogs. Other wildlife, such as raccoons, bobcats, cougars, and bears, can also be dangerous to pets in Utah,” the post says.

“To ensure the safety of your pets, please keep them indoors or on a leash when outside with you. Please stay alert and take all necessary precautions to protect your pets.”
