GRAND COUNTY, Utah, June 14, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men are dead from injuries suffered during a BASE jumping incident, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday.

They were in the Mineral Bottom area, a remote area of Grand County, when the incident occurred.

BASE jumping is an extreme sport in which people leap from fixed, stationary objects and use a parachute to descend to the ground. The letters in BASE stand for Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges) and Earth (cliffs), which are locations people jump from.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office said one person was a 50-year-old man, whose name and city of residence were not released.

(The man’s age was later corrected to 68, and his name was given as Danny Joe Kregle.)

The second person was identified as Andrew Lewis of Moab. He is well known in the BASE jumping community.

Lewis, 39, was known professionally as Sketchy Andy. He had a tandem BASE jumping business in Moab, and was a slackliner, highliner and stunt performer.

Lewis also made videos, and had his own YouTube Channel with 262 videos and nearly 45,000 subscribers.
