Evacuations ordered after Francis Wildfire threatens structures in Fruit Heights

FRUIT HEIGHTS, Utah, Sept. 16, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Residents living near the Francis Wildfire, sparked on the mountainside behind Fruit Heights, are being told to evacuate their homes as the blaze comes dangerously near residences.

The fire, reported to be about 50 acres at 3 p.m., had reached about 100 acres and zero percent contained just after 6 p.m. Strong winds were reported to be pushing flames northward.

A tweet from the Davis County Sheriff’s Office says Oakmont from 1375 East and 1800 East is under mandatory evacuation, as is Mountain Road between 200 North and the gun Range Range split.

An evacuation center has been set up at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building just west of U.S. 89 at 200 North.
