Bruce Campbell Talks “Last Fan Standing”

Our film critic Tony Toscano spoke with film and TV actor Bruce Campbell about his new TV show, “Last Fan Standing.” The show is on CONtv (Contv.com), a new over-the-top channel dedicated to the Comic-Con circuit. Campbell, who has become an icon to Comic-Con attendees for his roles in horror films like “Army of Darkness” and “The Evil Dead,” taped his first episode of “Last Fan Standing” during the New Orleans Comic Con on Jan. 10.

In each installment, Campbell asks questions such as how much does Thor’s hammer weigh? The top four players who answer questions in a crowd get to compete for the title of the last fan standing.

“‘Last Fan Standing’ is not your father’s game show,” Campbell said. “You gotta know what’s going down, and you gotta have street cred. If you’re going to host a show like this, you gotta be a guy who comes from that world, and I certainly do… this is a pretty good fit, this is the reality of modern television watching, most people are not going to sit down on Tuesday at 8 o’clock and watch their show, they want to see it on their i-Pad, or their iPhone, or they want to stream it up to their giant TV, that’s the beauty of it, it’s a digital network, so you can watch it wherever, whenever.”

The show will play every Monday for ten episodes and viewers can play along with the game. “Hopefully one day we are going to figure out how fans at home can play with the game, and test themselves, because hopefully one day we’d like to have regional playoffs, national playoffs and even international playoffs, ‘cos you can take the show absolutely anywhere,” he said.
