June 5 (UPI) — Entertainer Cher and Jimmy Carter, former president of the United States, were among the mourners at Gregg Allman‘s funeral in Georgia on Saturday.

The Southern rock pioneer died May 27 at the age of 69 after a long battle with liver cancer.

Rolling Stone magazine said musician Peter Frampton and many of Allman’s bandmates also attended the private ceremony celebrating his life at Snow’s Memorial Chapel in Macon.

Eulogizing Allman at the service were his children — Devon, Layla and Delilah Island — his niece Galadrielle, his friend Chank Middleton and his manager Michael Lehmen, Variety said.

Allman was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery near his brother Duane, who died in a 1971 motorcycle accident.
