LAS VEGAS, Oct. 26 (UPI) — Magician Criss Angel was forced recently to cancel his “Believe” Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas in order to be with his family in Australia.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, Angel rushed to be with his toddler son, Johnny Crisstopher Sarantakos, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The 47-year-old cancelled his Friday show and all future performances through Nov. 1.

“For many years, Criss has championed and raised money for various children’s charities here in Las Vegas, but he never thought it would hit this close to home,” said one of his Cirque colleagues in a statement. “This is a very personal family crisis.”

The Mindfreak star tweeted about the cancellations followed by a photo of himself holding 20-month-old Johnny.”In light of a family emergency the news I was going to announce this weekend will be postponed,” he wrote.
