Ed Sheeran Meets His Wax Statue at Madame Tussauds
NEW YORK, May 29 (UPI) — Ed Sheeran met his wax statue Thursday at Madame Tussauds.
The 24-year-old English singer attended the unveiling at the museum’s New York location. Sheeran snapped selfies with his likeness, and later commented on the statue’s… details.
“Met my waxwork at Madame Tussaud, he didn’t say much but he’s got a bulge so it’s all good,” he wrote on Instagram.
Sheeran’s lookalike sports a plaid flannel over a dark t-shirt and is poised mid-strum on the guitar. The singer found the encounter “weird,” commenting, “They’ve even got my lazy eye in. It’s kind of pointing that way.”
The original Madame Tussauds museum was established in London in 1835, with waxworks of historical figures like Jean-Jacques Rosseau and Benjamin Franklin. Today, each creation costs $300,000 and takes artists months to create.
Sheeran released his debut studio album, +, in 2011, and followed up with x in 2014. The latter record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and includes the singles “Sing” and “Don’t.” The singer is also known for his close friendship with pop star Taylor Swift.
