PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 23 (UPI) — Prince Albert of Monaco has purchased Grace Kelly‘s home in Philadelphia. It is the house where she accepted a marriage proposal in 1956 from his father, Prince Rainier III.

He confirmed to People Magazine that it was, indeed, him that purchased the six-bedroom, 2.5-story Colonial in the East Falls area of the city.

The sale of the 4,000 square-foot house closed Sept. 23 at a reported price of $754,000, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

It has been listed at $750,000 when it was removed from the housing market Sept. 3. It had originally been listed in July for $1 million.

The city’s property appraiser lists the value of the house at $605,000, taxable land value of $124,148 for the 0.69 acres and taxable improvement at $451,452.

The house is designated a Pennsylvania historical landmark.

The prince said he was traveling Tuesday to Philadelphia to discuss plans for the brick house where his mother was born. He told People Magazine his plans for the house could include museum space and offices for the royal family’s foundation, NBC10 reported.

Kelly, an Oscar Award nominee for “Mogambo” in 1954, spent most of her time in Monaco after her marriage to Prince Rainier. She died in 1982 the day after suffering a stroke and subsequently drove off the side of a mountain road crashing her car. Her daughter, Princess Stephanie, who had tried to take control of the car, survived the crash.
