HERRIMAN, Utah, June 10, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Singo, the beloved bar game enjoyed by partiers in 40 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, and parts of Central America, kicks off Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., when the fun-fueled competition comes to the Herriman entertainment hotspot, Redemption Bar & Grill.

The concept is simple. Participants listen to musical snippets and cross off the titles of each song on their Singo bingo-style cards. The first players to check off a whole row on their cards shout “Singo” and then claim a variety of cool prizes. In some bars the prizes include cold, hard cash.

After its Thursday, June 12 launch, Singo will be among the weekly featured events on Redemption’s main floor, while the popular, long-standing Thursday night karaoke shows move to the bar’s “underground” live music stage.

“People have a great time playing Singo,” said David Harb, the Knoxville man who invented Singo, along with his business partner, Jonathan Apostoles, 15 years ago.

“They’re listening to great music; they’re eating wings, drinking a cool one and really having fun. They’re listening and singing along to music they love, that they grew up with, and soaking in the vibe and watching their cards fill up while maybe on their way to claiming a great prize,” Harb said.

Keith Dean, Redemption’s operations manager, said the bar is excited about Singo’s debut.

“It’s a new twist on bingo, and it’s more competitive, because you have to know the songs,” Dean said. “From what I’ve seen of it, it’s really wild. People are consumed by it. It’s a lot of fun and there’s a lot of excitement.”

Bingo has been around “forever,” Dean said. And while it is fun, some people think of it “as an old person’s game,” he said.

“Singo, however, is for everybody, and the music spans just about every genre and every era. Hosts choose the music from the Singo tablet, including country hits, or maybe famous rock and roll tunes, and then it all gets underway,” Dean said.

“I really think Singo will be a great fit for our Redemption patrons. We already know they’re music lovers since they pack the bar on weekends to catch our live music acts down in our underground lair.”

Singo winners will get a variety of prizes, he added, stating that a cash pot may be established within the first few weeks.

“What’s really cool about Singo is the word-of-mouth buzz is almost guaranteed,” Harb said during a call from Tennessee. “We don’t advertise at all. Our business is all word-of-mouth.”

Harb recalled a call he took years ago from a woman who discovered the game while visiting Texas.

“She said, ‘We’re getting ready to head home, and I called my son back in New York and told him we played Singo in Dallas, and he absolutely had to put it in his bar.’ He did just that, and the bar traffic exploded. His place is now packed on Singo nights and the bar goers can’t get enough of it. I think this will be a great addition to Redemption’s weekly attractions.”
