LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) — The “worst heroes ever” assemble in the latest trailer for Warner Bros.’ upcoming DC comics adaptation, “Suicide Squad.”
The footage, revealed Sunday by stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) during the MTV Movie Awards, shows the villain-focused group trying their best to work together in order to survive.
Set to classic rock song “Ballroom Blitz” by Sweet, the trailer highlights how the band of incarnated misfits are formed by government official Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to carry out top-secret black ops missions against their will.
Warner Bros.’ second installment, as part of its DC comics cinematic universe following the March release of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” also stars Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo) Adam Beach (Slipknot) and group leader Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), who warns the team that anyone who doesn’t follow orders will die.
Batman (Ben Affleck) also makes a brief appearance in the clip, diving to the rescue of Robbie’s Harley Quinn as she falls off a building into a body of water.
Directed by David Ayer, “Suicide Squad” blasts into theaters Aug. 5.
