‘Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ Star Gunnar Hansen Dies At 68

BANGOR, Maine, Nov. 8 (UPI) — Texas Chain Saw Massacre icon Gunnar Hansen died of pancreatic cancer this weekend at his home in Maine where he had lived for about 40 years. He was 68.

The Bangor Daily News said Hansen’s agent Mike Eisenstadt confirmed the Icelandic actor, writer and producer’s Saturday death.

Best known for playing the villain Leatherface in Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Hansen penned a 2013 memoir called Chain Saw Confidential about his experiences in making the 1974 horror movie.

Eisenstadt said Hansen had been working on the film Death House when he died.

Hansen is survived by Betty Tower, his partner of 13 years.
