May 9 (UPI) — USA Network and Universal Cable Productions have announced plans for “Psych: The Movie,” starring James Roday and Dule Hill.
“Psych” creator Steve Franks, who co-wrote the two-hour special with Roday, is directing the project. Featuring Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson, the TV movie is expected to air in December.
The program will pick up three years after the detective dramedy’s finale, which aired in 2014 after eight seasons.
“‘Psych’ is a beloved part of our USA family, and what better time to reunite with family than the holidays,” Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said in a statement Monday. “Steve and James have taken the unique brand of comedy that the series honed over eight seasons and packed it in to a 2-hour movie that successfully rekindles one of the greatest bro-mances in television history.”
