‘Westworld’: Reality Is Questioned In First Teaser Trailer For Upcoming HBO Series

NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) — A group of androids have come alive in a wild west setting in the first teaser trailer for HBO’s upcoming sci-fi series, “Westworld.”

The clip which premiered Sunday before the latest, blood-soaked episode of “Game of Thrones,” featured star Evan Rachel Wood as an android being questioned by a mysterious figure about the nature of her existence.

“Do you know where you are?” Wood’s character Dolores is asked. “I’m in a dream,” she responds before the thriller’s wild west setting is showcased complete with horses, pistols and a bustling town center.

Based on the 1973 film of the same name, the long-delayed “Westworld,” developed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy with J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk as executive producers, revolves around a futuristic amusement park populated by androids who begin to disobey protocol.

“The one-hour drama series “Westworld” (10 episodes) is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged,” reads the official synopsis.

The series will feature a star-studded cast which includes Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright. HBO has yet to announce an exact premiere date however the end of the teaser signified “Westworld” would be arriving in October.
